Rating a Movie

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Navigate to any movie detail page (click a movie card).
  3. Scroll down to the Rate This Movie section.
  4. Select a score from 1 to 10 using the number input.
  5. Optionally write a text review in the textarea.
  6. Click Submit Rating.

You can rate each movie once. After submitting, the page will show your saved score.

How Ratings Appear

Every movie card shows the average rating (out of 10) with a star icon. The movie detail page also shows the number of ratings submitted. This average updates each time a new rating is saved.

Ratings Distribution Chart

At the bottom of each movie detail page there is a bar chart (powered by Chart.js) that visualises how ratings are distributed across the 1–10 scale. Taller bars mean more users gave that score. This gives a quick sense of whether opinions are polarised or unanimous.

Tips

  • Reviews are optional but encouraged — they help other users decide what to watch.
  • Ratings range from 1 (worst) to 10 (best).
  • Be honest and constructive; your input shapes the community experience.
